Life & Death

June 2010 I was in Yosemite National Park teaching photography workshops with the “Canon Photography in the Parks” program.  This blog was actually inspired by my coworkers during the summer months.  Yosemite was the first amongst several national park visits and definitely one of my favorites.

The big meadow burn site was an especially beautiful part of Yosemite.  Burn areas are always sad to see, but witnessing the mix of old and new life it makes it really something special.  The colors here were just spectacular, bright purple lupine flowers glowing against the stark backdrop of charred wood.  Life and death in one of its simplest forms.

Cycle of life starts anew.

While fire takes its toll.

Panorama of the meadow at sunset.  The scene was absolutely stunning.
